On 2 November 2025, China's first self-developed 520mm bore low-speed engine technology integration verification platform, developed by China Shipbuilding Power (a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited), successfully achieved ammonia fuel loading, ammonia tightness testing, and stable operation in ammonia mode ignition at its test base in Shanghai's Lingang. This marks China's first experimental research on ammonia fuel operation mode in low-speed engines.
